The Pathfinder Walk

Looping through the Cambridgeshire countryside you’ll find the Pathfinder Long Distance Walk, a 46 mile route created to link the RAF Pathfinder stations of Wyton, Graveley, Oakington and Warboys and commemorate the WWII history of the RAF’s Pathfinder Force in our region.

Every year, a group of intrepid walkers take part in the Pathfinder March. Meeting at RAF Wyton, they tackle the entire 46 mile route in one day, setting out before dawn. The event is in memory of the Pathfinders, the target-marking squadrons in the RAF’s Bomber Command.

While the full 46 mile route is a mammoth undertaking in one day, you can take a more leisurely pace and stroll along a section of the route between Godmanchester and Papworth Everard by following the waymark signs of a Mosquito aircraft.

Take the X2/X3 bus to either Godmanchester or Papworth, join the Pathfinder Walk, and walk to your destination. Once you’ve completed your section of the walk, you can treat yourself to a drink at The Courtyard Coffee Shop & Micropub in Papworth Everard, or at one of Godmanchester’s many pubs, and then hop back on the X2/X3.
