Great Scenic Journeys: Cambridge to St Neots on the 18
If you have an afternoon to spare, hop aboard the 18 bus and enjoy the sights of the scenic Cambridgeshire countryside. Whether you start in central Cambridge or set out from the market town of St Neots, you’ll travel through hidden gems of the Cambridgeshire countryside.
The bus departs from Drummer Street bus station in the centre of Cambridge, tucked away behind Christ’s Pieces. From here you’ll travel to Trumpington in the city’s south and then to the picturesque village of Grantchester.
You can make this your first stop, exploring the beautiful old buildings (also featured in the ITV series Grantchester) and taking a break in one of the village’s many pubs. From Grantchester, the bus travels through Comberton and into the village of Barton, home to our next destination: Burwash Manor.
Here you’ll find old farm buildings converted into a series of independent shops, with a cafe and delicatessen on site as well. There are also walking routes to take, and it’s the perfect place to spend an hour or two before hopping back on the 18 to explore further.
The bus travels down country roads through the villages of Kingston and Bourn (where you can stop at lovely cafe The Stove, if you fancy a coffee) and heads towards the new town of Cambourne, before its final stop in St Neots, where there’s plenty to see and do.
Our tap on, tap off system means you’ll always pay the best fare, so you can make as many stops on your journey as you feel like and you’ll only pay the standard day ticket fare.
